I am curious if the project owners here have considered the website kickstarter for crowd backing / funding up front, to allow higher production volumes. I have never used it myself, but was curious if it would be relevant here.

Yes, we considered Kickstarter.
But Kickstarter not allow to join projects from other countries then USA and UK unfortunately (we are Polish).

Is possible for me to open project on it personally (as I'm UK resident) right now, but we have to make this decision together, as a team. This decision is not made at the moment.
