Any ideas what could cause this?
http://radioactiveathome.org/scripts/graph/drawweekdotted.php?hostid=14364

There seems to be a spike about every hour.
We tried locating the problem looking at our machine for some hours now
but couldn't yet figure out what might cause this.

When this happens, does the LCD display also show the same values, alternating high and low? If so, there must be a problem with the tube or electronics. In addition, before the spike, the hourly values seem to be mostly the same value, not fluctuating naturally. All the other sensors show variation every sample and for the hourly values too. If the LCD display does not change on a second-by second basis, this also points to a detector issue.

Try a different USB port, ideally on a different MB hub (front rather than rear or vice versa), just to eliminate power supply issues first!

I don't exactly know what fixed the problem - but just if someone else stumbles across a problem alike - we:
- changed the USB cablea
- plugged the geiger counter in a different usb port
- cleaned the casing with pressured air
- taped the lcd hole shut (no LCD in our geiger counter)
