Can't set location
(Message 4014)
Posted 1296 days ago by ![]() At least you have a graph and getting half credits. My sensor is lit up and working fine, but I can no longer run tasks for this project as it says there is no app which will run on my Linux box (it's lying, there is, I haven't changed the computer just upgraded to a newer version of Linux). So I have a pretty USB geiger counter and that's it. Nobody else can see it but me. It's a pity, this was a fun project while it had support, but I feel nobody has the technical knowledge to answer/fix these problems now. :( |

Linux Mint 20 - Monitor not available?
(Message 3997)
Posted 1418 days ago by ![]() I have just upgraded my Linux PC OS from Mint 19 to Mint 20 and reinstalled the latest version of BOINC using the software manager (BOINC client version 7.16.6 for x86_64-pc-linux-gnu), then when I add the Radioactive@home project I am getting error message : Wed 28 Jul 2021 11:27:09 BST | Radioactive@Home | Message from server: Radioactivity Monitor is not available for Linux running on an AMD x86_64 or Intel EM64T CPU. This is strange, as it is exactly the same hardware as before, and it was running fine before I installed Mint 20. I don't really want to go back to Mint 19. Is there some way to force it to install the nci application for Linux running on an Intel x86-compatible CPU, which is what it was using before? |

(Message 3584)
Posted 2870 days ago by ![]() Hi D2Tour, try unplugging your sensor and re-inserting it (where the sun don't shine, preferably) and that might help. Wishing you everything you deserve, Karma. |

Upgraded OS, tasks now get half the credits?
(Message 3500)
Posted 3072 days ago by ![]() Well this is weird. I've upgraded my computer with an SSD and took the opportunity to install the latest version of Linux Mint (18), as I was on 17.1 before, and BOINC updated to 7.6.31 from 7.2.42. I wasn't expecting it to make any difference to Rad at home tasks, as they don't use much cpu/disk anyway, but now I've got it up and running, I'm seeing all my tasks end in about the same elapsed time as before, cpu time is similar, but I only get half as many credits per task! Just wondered if anyone else has seen this before or know why? I could boot up under the old OS for a while I suppose and see if it goes back to normal credits per task. I'll run a few tasks for other projects as well first and see how they get on too. |

Posted 3195 days ago by ![]() Do you know anyone with a Linux computer who can plug it in for you and run the LSUSB command to see what it reports back? I don't think there's an equivalent in Windows, or at least not as supplied, you'd have to download a program from somewhere to do it. There are some users running Windows 10 who are getting credits, so there must be some way to get it working. Could be what Al said, hope it didn't get fried when your last PC blew up! |
