Can Women Be Better Sales Persons
| Team info | |
| Description | There are different stereotypes when it comes to women and men. We all know them and we believe in some of them. But when it comes to business, especially to sales, are there any truthful stereotypes? Can women be better sales persons than men? Or being a sales person is a job only fitted for men? When it comes to the business world, men have been in this field longer than women. The business world has become accessible to women for the past few decades only while men have had thousands of years at their disposal to accommodate to it. However, since we now live in a world where, from the legal point of view, women and men are equals, there's also an equal chance for both of the sexes in the business world. I know what some of you will think. There are statistics that prove the contrary sometimes but, in truth, the chance is still equal; it is only a matter of how well one is equipped to face the challenges. Women are emotional and men are rational How many times have you heard this phrase before? Of course, it's nonsense. Women and men are both rational and emotional. The only difference is what stimulates their emotions. Yes, women can be more sensitive to children and cute animals, but how many times did you see a woman lose her calm completely over a football game? Both women and men are emotional; their emotions are just provoked by different things. So, when it comes to the business world, you can strike out that phrase because the simple truth is that all people are emotional and this cannot be hold as an argument for which one of the sexes is the better sales person. Sales are not about manipulation, but about trust. Now, when it comes to sales, there are just a few principles to follow and the rest is personal attitude. We all know the principles; but what about that personal attitude? How are women different from men when it comes to sales and whose attitude is better? Men are more trenchant. Women tend to always adjust and, sometimes, that can drawl things. I remember how I always dreaded going into business meetings with women because, for the first hours, all they ever talked about was babies. I was infuriated back then but now I know that those talks had their role. Their purpose was to establish trust and a connection with the others so that, when it finally came to the sales decision, things would run smoother. Sales are also about risk. On the other hand, men tend to risk more. Perhaps it is because of a bolder nature, perhaps it is an archetype inscribed in men's subconscious. And sometimes, being able to risk more brings more advantages to the sales table. Whoever said "risk and win" knew their business. Of course, risk can always have its negative outcome, but great things have never been achieved through safe options. So, who's better? What I wanted to prove was that both men and women bring valuable qualities to the business world. Women bring more tact, they are easier to trust and they are smooth talkers. Men bring boldness, rapidity and they address issues proactively. As a result, both sexes have a lot to learn from each other. Business world was never meant to be ruled just by one sex; it was meant to be ruled by the knowledge gained from each other. So, if you ask yourself who is better, there is actually no simple answer for that. Because the best sales person is the one who listens and learns. Women can be better sales persons, that much is true. But men can also be better sales persons because, in the end, if we draw the line, the best is achieved from combining both of the specific skills women and men possess.
