Light Vacation - Carry-On Just

Team info
DescriptionLight vacation? The last time my wife and I went to Ecuador, I had 10 pounds of luggage, all in one carry-on bag. Ana had just 8 pounds in her carry-on bag. We spent six days in Ecuador, at times on glacier-covered mountains, and at other times relaxing on Pacific coast beaches.

Why vacation lightweight? Simplicity. With only carry-on luggage, we were in a restaurant in Quito, while others still waited for their checked luggage. O-n vehicles our luggage was properly with us, not in the hold below being cut open, like onetime when I was in Mexico. Others fought down the street with three heavy bags, while we had our hands free and were walking pleasantly with our daypacks. We had less to eliminate, less to be taken, less to wait for, less to pack and unpack in motels, and less to worry about.

Light Travel Dilemmas

Assume a supplementary question or two from your customs officials at the airport (Six months with only this?). To compare more, consider having a view at: http://www.survivallife.com website. Also, a tiny bag might not work if you want to bring back many gifts. In this instance, you can plan to purchase a second bag sooner or later, to carry your purchases. For not having enough clothes and other activities, it is not as big a challenge as you may think.

My silk t-shirts weigh three ounces, and rolled-up well if travel. Plastic dress socks are comfortable and cool, and weigh less than an ounce. Poly-cotton mixture t-shirts consider 5 ounces. Supplex or other lightweight journey slacks consider 9 ounces, and are adequate for a fine restaurant or a walk in the woods. Half what typical travel clothes weigh, these get less space, and function the exact same. There's no sacrifice involved here.

You don't have even to buy new clothes, if you do not want to. There's no necessity to buy a size and count ounces. Once you can only choose light alternatives. Reserve your lightest hat, pants and socks for the next vacation. Convenience, not complicated planning, will be the goal.

More Light Journey Secrets

Weight can be replaced by money. Why hold when you can purchase two pounds of shampoo small containers as you travel? It'll maybe not cost far more to buy things while you get. Also, you truly don't understand what you'll need, especially on an overseas trip. Buy things as you need them, and you'll not have a pile of useless things within your luggage. Don't we all frequently unpack things in the home that we never once used during a trip?

Gift suggestions and souvenirs? Why take them around for months, should you get items for family or friends? Put them in the mail.

What I Got For Six months in Ecuador:

* 8 pairs of thin plastic socks (less-than an ounce per set)

* 2 cotton shirts for restaurants and discos (3 ounces each)

* 4 poly/cotton combination t-shirts (5-6 ounces each)

* 5 couple of light underwear (2-3 ounces each)

* 1 extra couple of lightweight pants (9 ounces)

* Single-layer nylon shorts for climbing or swimming (2 ounces)

* Thin gloves (1-ounce)

* Thin hat (1 ounce - actually)

* Thin wool sweater (11 ounces)

* Waterproof/breathable rainsuit (1-4 ounces for the set)

* Light plastic camera (3 ounces)

* Sunglasses (1-ounce)

* Small chess set (3 ounces)

* Bath-room kit (5 ounces)

* laptop, Maps and numerous little things (three or four pounds)

My pack weighed five pounds. My wife's weighed 8 pounds. We never felt deprived. I'm maybe not suggesting you start counting ounces (that arises from my backpacking days), or that you buy brand new lightweight things. Only start setting aside your lightest t-shirts, socks, etc., and you-can take pleasure in the advantages of light travel..
