It exists the possibility of release the detector's schematics & firmware to DIY crafting????

Is it necessary the "CTC-5/SBM-20" GM tube or any other that uses 400v, like SI-3BG, could work??

Any tube will work, but the data will be completely different due to tube characteristics.

That's my concern; if I build a detector with a cheaper GM-tube, could that deteriorate the project´s data quality??

That depends on the tube.
At this moment the project supports only SBM-20 and compatible tubes, mostly because all the raw data -> radiation conversion is hardcoded, so for example using a more sensitive tube would end with a perma-red dot on map and red graphs.
However, things may change in the near future, as I'm going to add some kind of geiger tube selection preferences.

Also, the new detector possible get bootloader, so we get possibility to maintain firmware in detectors - this can help also supporting other tubes.

Ok then, I'll build(or try it) the detector using the SBM-20 tube.

I made this questions because there is not especification about the tube in the hardware description, I found the model using the photo shown in the old news section(the one announcing tubes arrival), you should modify that spec.

The idea of a bootloader sounds really really necesary.

I hope this project continues to grow. People to have this information on indices of global radiation, without intervention from governments or private companies is a great public service, and if I can work with you on something I'm at your disposal.

Greetings.

The second post in this thread suggests the latest hardware design is available from http://radioactiveathome.org/en/, just click "Detector". More recent posts from project admins suggest revisions have been made since then. I would appreciate a definite yes or no answer to the question of whether the above link provides the latest revisions or not. If not, is it possible to obtain the latest hardware design and software, please?

I don't necessarily need a current schematic. If revisions consist of just changes to component values and no changes to the network then a simple list of value changes or a current BOM (Bill of Materials) will suffice. A list of pin-pin connect changes would suffice too.

Thanks.

The "detector" section describes v2.5 hardware, which was the last v2 revision. It's compatible with v2.51/2.52 firmware.

The sensors which are currently in production are v3 design, which is completely different and can't be built from v2.x parts.

EDIT: As far as I know there is no full v3 documentation yet.

Thanks for that info, TJM, it clears a lot of confusion and wondering.

I know you guys operate with limited manpower so I can't expect immediate gratification but I would like to take a crack at building 6 or so v3 detectors. The item of lowest priority is the firmware... don't need that for a while. BOM and schematic would be nice though, to get the ball rolling.
