Hello !
Following the excellent idea of Krunchin-Keith, L'Alliance Francophone also will try to help you in distributing your GRS.
We are now gathering our volunteers. Already 14.
I know that your first batch is already sold and being sent currenty.
So the question is when do you think being able to finish manufacturing new GRS batch ?
Technical question about aligator-leads : Why do not you connect the wires to Geiger-Müller tube directly instead of using leads ?
About Geiger-Muller tube position : It must be located only inside for giving good values to the project ? (Only Gamma-Ray so).
About Geiger-Muller tube : Is it fragile ? We can use for how long ? (Years ?)
Thank you.

Technical question about aligator-leads : Why do not you connect the wires to Geiger-Müller tube directly instead of using leads ?
Soldering directly to the tube is risky because the glass inside could break due to heating and cooling. Most of the SBM-20s and STS-5s have brass caps on both sides, already soldered to the internal wires and glued.
About Geiger-Muller tube : Is it fragile ? We can use for how long ? (Years ?)
I'd say it's rather fragile because it may easily break if you drop it or accidentaly hit it with something else. I haven't seen what's inside but SBM-20-1 (which is very similar) clearly shows that there is glass on both ends (the SBM-20-1 doesn't have brass caps).
The lifespan is directly affected by radiation around the tube (when it's powered), the datasheet defines a "lifetime" based on number of pulses. I don't remember exact values but I'd guess that under normal condition it should last a couple of years. |

Thanks for your quick answers TJM.
Additional one that I forgot :
What about the weight of the total kit ? |

We want to wait about two or three weeks to refine the export of data (map, SQL and / or XML files) and get some feedback from users of the detectors and then start a second campaign of collecting orders.
Thank you for your appreciation, we will further strive to do your best;)
Surprisingly, it has not yet appeared no one interested from Japan.

Japan might not really know about the project yet. I found out about it one day pretty much just browsing the list of projects on the side of the boinc or DC stats page and seen it and clicked through. If I wasn't bored that day and just cruising the projects Id probably still not know about this one.
If we get some advertising or at least attention in japan I bet many would want to participate even if it's just to see how bad it is around their own homes. I would put forth though that if that market hits, you are probably going to be needing a LOT of boards for them.
The fact that the project is not ready to roll right now is probably a turn off for many folks too; they don't want to wait weeks or possibly months to be able to get started on it.

True...
As you know, we are volunteers as you are so we don't have money to make even 500 detectors using our pockets and also up to now nobody are interesting in sponsoring our project... So pre-orders system is only available for us.
Helpfully on every order we get more experience with suppliers and waiting time should going to be shorter.

Thanks a lot for this information again. We will wait the time necessary, no problem.
In the meanwhile we will follow with big interest the results given by your first batch when it will be producing datas.
For Japan, many reasons makes that you have no contact yet.
One of the first is that their BOINC crunchers are not having strong communities like we have in Europe or in US.
For example Team2Ch, which is one of the biggest teams doesn't even have a specific BOINC forum. So people do not really exchange.
We had tried to join them within the Formula Boinc Organization Comittee, but never been able to have one of them personaly involved. It is a mass, but seems to have no leaders.
Only place where I think it will be possible to give the information when you think the project is ready is : http://team2ch.info/ |

Hello BoincPoland !

Please notify when you will close pre-ordering of 3rd batch.

Hello !
Now our new list is counting 10 sensors.
From our first batch of 23, 21 are giving values.
1 not yet started (will go to Taiwan)
1 is the property of Jip, one of our main members, who suddenly died on the First of May. L'Alliance Francophone is very shocked and sad. |

Hello,
I post on this forum because some members of the AF do not know what stage of the expedition and they expect their sensor news.
I assume that the detectors are under construction but could we have an estimate of the date of dispatch?
Regards, erik.

I asked the same here, and got this answer:
If LCD's comes without delay we will send first detectors about 15th of next month.
All detectors will be send within 4-5 weeks from first parcel.
